Baby Room Stage One
We just painted it on the weekend. It's a bit darker than we thought but that's o.k. It's supposed to be an oceany aquamarine color. Our theme is Hula girl, Tiki Hut, Hawaii type thing. We have a lot of decorating we want to do in there so thank goodness we've got three more months. When we loaded the shelves and dresser with all of the baby stuff it was another dose of reality. But this time it wasn't fear, more excitement. It was also a special time this week when the leaders from our church came over and prayed for our new house. They took time to pray for the baby and it's health and safety as it grew up in this room.

Welcome to the Third Trimester!
According to www.pregnancyguideonline.com and The Unofficial Guide to Having a Baby...
'The baby weighs about 2 pounds and is about 15 inches long. Eyebrows and eyelashes are now present, and the hair on the head is growing. The eyelids open, and the eyes are completely formed. The body is getting plumper and rounder and is composed of around 2 to 3% body fat. Muscle tone is gradually improving. The lungs are capable of breathing air but if the baby is born now, it would struggle to properly breathe. Be sure to talk to your baby a lot because s/he can recognize your voice now!'
Well, she sure likes her Daddy, I can tell you that. Every night when Chris comes to bed he talks to the baby and pats her (while I'm sleeping) and he usually gets a response. She is kicking and punching a lot now; last week it was bladder massage week and this week it is stomach massage week. She's almost making me nauseous I'm being kicked so much! I am still feeling 100%, but I am growing growing growing and can tell that the VERY large stage is coming soon. So I am trying to stay as active as I can while I can.
Her room just needs a bit of touching up then we can take and post pictures. It looks awesome!

Today's task
Today task is to make space for the crib and set it up. Yesterday we got a crib from the school. It's a used crib but it's in decent shape and will work just fine. It's more and more exciting as the baby room gets set up. It warms my heart when I walk into that room. So back to my project...a lot of apartments here have built-in storage and furniture. In this case the "baby room" has a big twin bed box. In Canada we usually buy a frame and a boxspring but in Taiwan there is often a box that matches the house decor and then you just put a mattress on top. This one is easily movable but where do I store it. That's my problem but my job as a daddy is to make it happen. Three cheers for free cribs!!!

Boy or Girl?
We went to see the doctor this morning and the good news is that we have a healthy little baby who was moving around and putting on a show for the camera. We also now know the sex of the baby but for suspense sake we'll be keeping it a secret for a few days. The truth is that we have a "Guess Book", that was so impressively made by my cousins, and we still have a lot of people here in Taiwan that need to input their guesses. We'll bring it with us to church on Sunday and Nevada will pass it around on Monday when the staff are back together....then on Tuesday or Wednesday we'll make the official announcement on this blog.
24 weeks...
According to webmd.com
"the baby is about 8.4 inches from crown to rump and weighs about 1.2 pounds. It is starting to produce white blood cells, mostly for combating disease and infection, and may respond to your touch or sounds. If you haven't felt hiccups yet, you might feel some jerking motion now."
Hmmm...I feel the jerking motions, and sometimes he kicks for daddy when he talks to him/her or pushes on my hand when I'm trying to get a feel. It is so hard to beleive there is an 8 inch baby in there because I don't feel that big; where is he keeping himself tucked in there? It is getting harder to bend over, like when I am sitting on the floor I can't get myself as far forward as I could before. The same is with biking; leaning forward to reach the handle bars and bringing my knees up to my gut is getting a little squishy. So biking may have to be put aside quicker than I would of liked, but oh well. I can't very well keep squishing my new baby!
So reader question of the week: What music should our baby be listening to while in utero? Any favorites or recommendations?
